education enjoy opera
Enjoy Opera gives school groups the opportunity to attend a selection of ENO performances at the London Coliseum for the subsidised rate of £7 per ticket - a saving of up to £31. An associated series of Enjoy Opera workshops and events has also been programmed to enhance and support your visit:

Who is it for?
Although the Enjoy Opera scheme is aimed at secondary schools, we also welcome enquiries from primary schools and are able to recommend suitable productions for this age group. In addition to school groups, we also welcome singing or voice pupils (under the age of 18), provided they are in a group and accompanied by their teacher.

What productions can you see?
Tickets are available for a range of productions that includes works suitable for first-timers alongside more challenging operas for more experienced students. If you would like some advice about what is most suitable for your particular group please call ENO Baylis.

why ENO?
All ENO productions are performed in English, making them more accessible for young people. As it is can be difficult to follow the sung dialogue, particularly when more than one character is singing at once, all Enjoy Opera seats are positioned in an area where surtitles are visible, enhancing the experience for your students.

How can I enhance our visit?

Workshops
Workshops take place on the afternoon of selected performances and are the ideal preparation for an opera and a great way to introduce students to the London Coliseum. Lasting two hours, these practical sessions offer an introduction to the opera through a combination of singing, drama, improvisation and discussion. Workshops are highly recommended as an introduction to opera for first-time groups.

Backstage Tours
Available on request and subject to availability, ENO Baylis is able to offer backstage tours for school groups. Explore behind the scenes, sample the view from the stage and visit areas such as the orchestra pit and royal box.*
Charges for tours vary so please contact ENO Baylis for an up to date price list.
*Please note that due to production schedules not all areas may be accessible

Pre-performance Talks
Available on request and subject to availability, pre-preformance talks last for one hour and give insight into the main themes and characters of the production. Talks, where available, take place between 5.00 - 6.00pm only and can be tailored to suit particular groups. Prices on request.

Arts Award
Enjoy Opera is a great way to link into the Arts Award. If your students enjoy singing and performing, why not bring them to a workshop where they will work with professional artists, or take them on a backstage tour to experience the thrill of standing onstage? For particular shows ENO also gives students the chance to post their reviews of our operas online. For more ways of linking into the arts award, speak to ENO Baylis' trained arts award advisor.
