ENO Opera Works Laying the foundation for a career in opera
English National Opera is committed to nurturing and developing talent. ENO has devised Opera Works to provide a unique and flexible training opportunity for talented pre-professional singers, whatever their background. The modular structure has been developed because we recognise that many talented singers have not been able to follow traditional music training routes, are in full-time employment, live outside London or have family commitments. The course is demanding, not least because it requires singers to engage with a wide range of performance skills and ideas, including drama and text, movement and physicality. Students are expected to develop work in their own time between the intensive weekend modules. For those who take on the course there are rich rewards and incredible opportunities. Opera Works students have said the course is “inspiring, exciting and an invaluable professional development opportunity.” The course is run by ENO Baylis, English National Opera's learning and participation team, which is in turn part of the Company's Artistic Department. The course is overseen by ENO's Head of Casting and Head of Music. The deadline for applications for the 2009/10 ENO Opera Works has now passed. Details of the next course will be available later in the year. If you would like to be added to our mailing list to receive details of the 2010/11 course when announced please email baylis@eno.org or call 020 7632 8484 ENO Opera Works is supported by: The Goldsmiths’ Company, The Mercers’ Company, The Radcliffe Trust, Garfield Weston Foundation
