ENO Baylis offers exciting opportunities for non-professional singers to get involved in opera. Know the Show Know the Show is an ongoing project in which adult non-professional singers work on operatic choral repertoire with ENO music staff and directors. Past weekends have included learning choruses from John Adam’s Nixon in China, Mozart’s The Magic Flute and learning choreography from Vaughan Williams’ Sir John in Love. Participants have the chance to work alongside ENO singers which have included Mark Padmore, John Graham-Hall and Lee Bisset. Approximately three weekends are planned each season. Know the Show is programmed by ENO Baylis and led by a variety of ENO’s music staff. Quotes from past Know the Show participants Forthcoming events: Know the Show: The Merry Widow Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th May 2008, 10am – 5pm Henry Wood Hall, London SE1 The opportunity to learn choruses and ensembles from Lehàr’s The Merry Widow with ENO’s music staff and to listen to and sing with ENO soloists and pick up singing tips from ENO pros. In addition, there will be a movement element during which participants can try their hand at waltzing. This event is led by Timothy Burke, currently working with ENO as Assistant Chorus Master for summer 2008, who will work alongside a team of ENO music staff and chorus throughout the weekend. We are also pleased to be joined by guest artists who will give an exclusive insight into ENO’s forthcoming brand new production of The Merry Widow.
