The ENO Chorus is one of the finest professional operatic ensembles in the UK today. Tracing its roots to the founding of the Sadler’s Wells Opera Company by Lilian Baylis in 1931, the ENO Chorus is committed to bringing opera sung in English to the widest possible audiences in thrilling and theatrically inventive productions.

The ENO Chorus plays a key role in the company ensemble and recent notable successes include major new productions of Aida, Billy Budd, Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci, Death in Venice, Doctor Atomic, Jenůfa, Peter Grimes, Satyagraha, and more recently new productions of Turandot and Handel’s Messiah at the London Coliseum. They have also performed at the Aldeburgh Festival, the Barbican and in Barcelona and were invited by Sir Charles Mackerras to sing in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience at the BBC Proms in 2009.

The ENO Chorus has participated in several recordings as part of Chandos’s ‘Opera in English’ series, including The Carmelites and The Makropulos Case, and was actively involved in ENO’s groundbreaking live broadcast of La bohème for SkyArts. Members of the ENO Chorus regularly perform principal roles at ENO and participate in the work of ENO Baylis, the company’s learning and participation team.
