The English Opera Group was created to allow patrons with a love of opera originally written in English to offer their support to this key area of ENO’s work.

The English Opera Group (EOG) supports several productions each season. There is a clear focus on new productions by Benjamin Britten, whose work remains a cornerstone for our commitment to English-language opera. The English Opera Group is named after Britten’s own company of performers, created to perform his works.  However, Britten is not an exclusive focus and over the past three years as well as supporting The Turn of the Screw , Peter Grimes and Death in Venice, the EOG has also helped with productions as diverse as Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Gondoliers, Handel’s Messiah and Birtwistle’s Punch and Judy.

In the 2009/10 season, the EOG has supported The Turn of the Screw and Messiah and will support Elegy for Young Lovers at the Young Vic.

We are seeking patrons passionate about opera written in English to join us. Members make a minimum donation of £5,000 a year on a three year basis. In recognition of this support, ENO offers a number of opportunities for involvement during each chosen production across the season.
