'Being an ENO Harewood Artist feels like being part of a huge family, and it’s lovely to feel supported by the other singers as well as the management. It’s vital to have mentors at this stage in one’s career and the programme provides a safe and nurturing environment to try new things and develop' (Kate Valentine)
The commitment to nurturing new opera talent is at the heart of ENO’s work. ENO Harewood Artists provides training and support for singers at the beginning of their professional careers, giving them an opportunity to develop and learn as they take on roles. The carefully-structured programme of training includes vocal and language coaching, work with distinguished exponents of their repertoire and access to a performance psychologist. The programme aims to forge long-term links between the artists and ENO, and previous members have gone on to develop international careers while remaining in close contact with the company.
This season there are 13 ENO Harewood Artists and many are undertaking major roles in ENO productions. Meet them over on our blog.
ENO Harewood Artists makes a vital contribution to the next generation of opera talent in the UK and beyond. However, we rely on the support of forward thinking philanthropists to continue to develop new talent in this way. For a contribution of £1,500 per annum, supporters have the opportunity to experience the development and progress of our Harewood Artists through exclusive invitations to an annual series of recitals.
We are also taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2013 where every donation given to ENO through thebiggive.org from 5 – 7 December 2013 is matched. This makes your donation worth twice as much to us.
