English National Opera’s rich and varied programme of special events provides an opportunity for us to thank our donors, partners and clients for their valued support.
Our Gala Dinners are memorable and spectacular evenings of operatic entertainment, bringing together some of ENO’s finest singers and musicians for one night to raise crucial funds to create a sustainable opera house for the 21st century.
In January 2015, we held the ENO Glorious Gala at The Savoy Hotel in London, to celebrate our artistic collaborations and raise funds for our future transformational projects.
There were wonderful performances from Bryn Terfel, Rebecca Evans, Sir Willard White, Iestyn Davies, Lucy Crowe, and ENO Harewood Artists Rhian Lois and Nicky Spence, all accompanied by the ENO Orchestra, conducted by Fergus Macleod.
A number of our world renowned directors and conductors were with us for the evening, and with moving speeches from Terry Gilliam, Peter Sellars and David Alden, a silent auction and a live auction from Lord Poltimore of Sotheby’s the evening was an enormous success that raised £200,000 in total for ENO.
In March 2014 ENO held an immersive event with Edible Opera, on the set of Rigoletto.
Anna Christy and Quinn Kelsey performed alongside ENO Harewood Artists and ENO Opera Works singers in a spectacular evening of theatre and entertainment.
Guests were treated to a Victorian banquet with delights such as edible cigars served on trays of billowing dry ice, while being serenaded by Clare Presland singing the Habanera. Stage management, the sound, lighting, costume, wigs and make up departments all got involved to give attendees a real taste of what goes on behind the scenes at ENO and the London Coliseum.
