English National Opera’s rich and varied programme of special events provides an opportunity for us to thank our donors, partners and clients for their valued support. Our Gala Dinners are memorable and spectacular evenings of operatic entertainment, bringing together some of ENO’s finest singers and musicians for one night to raise crucial funds for our professional development programmes, training the next generation of opera talent.
In March 2013 we held our annual ENO Spring Gala at The Banqueting House, Whitehall Palace in London. There were wonderful performances from Sarah Connolly, Tim Mead, John Graham-Hall, Brindley Sherratt and Sarah Tynan, accompanied by members of the Orchestra of English National Opera. The evening was hosted by television and radio presenter, Katie Derham. With a silent auction and live auction conducted by Sotheby’s auctioneer Adrian Biddell, we raised over £130,000 for ENO’s pioneering talent programmes. A huge thank you to all guests, committee members, partners and sponsors who made this evening possible.
In September 2012 Dr and Mrs Harry Brünjes hosted a spectacular Gala evening of opera and entertainment inspired by the opulent Viennese Ball scene in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus at the magnificent and historical Folkington Manor in East Sussex.
Guests were treated to a Veuve Clicquot Champagne Reception in the gardens, followed by a delicious dinner and performances by some of ENO’s finest singers: Anna Christy, Patricia Bardon, John Graham-Hall and ENO’s Harewood Artist, Ben Johnson. The evening combined with silent and live auctions (conducted by Sotheby’s auctioneer Edward Rising) raised £42,000 for ENO, and our talent development programmes.
In March 2012 we held the Spring Gala at London’s stunning One Mayfair, in partnership with couture designer Roubi L’Roubi. Guests were treated to performances by Sophie Bevan, Simon Butteriss, Ben Johnson, Gwyn Hughes Jones, Duncan Rock and Claire Rutter, who were dressed by Roubi in gorgeous dresses and tails. The evening was hosted by Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen.
With a silent auction and live auction (conducted by Sotheby’s auctioneer Adrian Biddell) we raised over £120,000 for ENO. A huge thank you to all guests, committee members, partners and sponsors who made this evening possible.
