Head of Capital Estates

Circa £50,000 per annum

Permanent role 

The Head of Capital Estates is jointly responsible to the Technical Director for the strategic management and effective delivery of facilities services at the London Coliseum and English National Opera and all of its external properties – Lilian Baylis House, Stonelake stores, Marden stores, Burrell Street Costume department and Trinity Buoy Wharf Props Workshop.

The successful candidate will focus primarily on the five external properties but will also work in close cooperation with the Technical Director on assisting with the London Coliseum property. With regards the concerned properties, you will manage ENO’s Estate’s contracted Facilities Management (FM) Projects contractors and their staff alongside wider ENO Capital Programmes.

As a successful applicant, you will be responsible for ensuring that the physical environment is fit for purpose in terms of premises, facilities, health & safety, workshop, performance spaces and office accommodation in order to deliver successful staff performance and excellent customer service.

You will be responsible for leading capital projects from initial proposal and feasibility through all subsequent project stages, and up to completion.  You will also manage proposals, business case/ Project Initiation Documentation (PID’s) and regular progress reports. As part of this you will also manage of a variety of outsourced and contracted services to ensure ENO receives the best value for money, and maintains beneficial partnership arrangements, so that all building users and any external hirers experience a seamless service. In doing so you are responsible for managing the Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), cleaning, and will advise on security contracts and utilities within an allocated budget. You must apply best practice to improve efficiency by reducing operating costs while increasing productivity and developing and maintaining effective working relationships with ENO departments and staff.

This role requires a professional working knowledge of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Plan of work, to ensure consultants/ contractors are producing information to the required level of detail to ensure successful project delivery.

You will have significant experience working as a project/programme manager at a senior level on Estate projects, within an Architectural, Building, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering environment, Projects in Controlled Environments (Prince 2), APM, MSP or similar preferred. This will be teamed with ability to work to tight deadlines and be responsible for preparing accurate and concise reports and documentation to assist in communicating project information to non-technical stakeholders and customers.
