Christopher Lowrey


Christopher Lowrey studied in his native United States, and at Trinity College, Cambridge, and RCM International Opera School. He is now emerging at the front rank of young counter-tenors on both the opera stage and concert platform.

Recent operatic engagements: Guildenstern in Brett Dean’s Hamlet (Glyndebourne); David Saul (Adelaide Festival; covered at Glyndebourne); Didymus Theodora, Tamerlano in Vivaldi’s Bajazet (Pinchgut Opera); Oberon (Geneva, Valencia); title roles Choice of Hercules and Solomon (English Concert); Gernando Faramondo (Brisbane Baroque Festival, Göttingen Handel Festival); Pastore/Speranza Orfeo (ROH); L’humana fragilità Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (Boston Baroque); Discordia/Euripilo/Polluce in Cavalli’s Elena (Aix-en-Provence). His many concert appearances include Israel in Egypt (BBC Proms/Christie), title role in Tamerlano (Les Talens Lyriques), B Minor Mass (Queensland Symphony Orchestra) and St Matthew Passion (London Handel Festival).
