Madeleine Shaw returned to the ENO in 2022 for the new production of The Handmaid’s Tale and will be back as Fricka in The Rhinegold.
Career Highlights
Madeleine Shaw includes among her current engagements her debut at the Komische Oper, Berlin as Osipovna/Bubliki/Social Commentator in The Nose, directed by Barrie Kosky, and her debut at the Opéra national de Paris as Aufseherin in Robert Carsen’s production of Elektra, conducted by Semyon Bychkov.
Recent operatic appearances include: title role in the world premiere of Elena Langer’s Rhondda Rips It Up!, Annina Der Rosenkavalier (WNO); Forester’s Wife The Cunning Little Vixen, Roßweise Die Walküre (ROH); Maddalena Rigoletto (Glyndebourne).
She recently made her role debut as Fricka Das Rheingold (Longborough Festival); she returned to this role in Die Walküre in June 2021, and will return again for complete Ring cycles in 2024.
