We work in collaboration with Music Hubs and local councils to identify schools across London that have less opportunity to access the arts or are most in need of support for creative subjects.
We work in close collaboration with several schools each year through our Opera Squad programme, offering a year-long residency that enriches the school’s arts provision and responds to each school’s needs, helping to ensure that the arts are able to flourish and develop within the school. Activities include whole school takeovers, bespoke in school projects that nurture creativity and develop skills, as well as priority access to our productions, our youth programme and work experience opportunities.
Our Young Critics programme supports young people to articulate their experience of opera and develop their critical voice.
Our Inside Opera series for teachers provides insight into our productions and an opportunity to meet professionals working in the industry.
We invite schools into the London Coliseum to experience our work at close hand, glimpse behind the scenes and meet professionals working in artistic and technical roles, making visible the variety of career pathways in the creative industries. We support school groups to attend our fully staged productions by offering a limited number of free tickets to dress rehearsals across the season, and subsidised tickets for every performance.
If you are interested in bringing a group to a dress rehearsal, booking a backstage visit or would like to discuss how your school can get involved in our programme, please contact us.
