Our Community Choir is open to everyone. We welcome seasoned singers and those looking to join a choir for the first time. No previous singing experience is required, nor a need be able to read music.
The choir operates on a two-term basis, running in Autumn and Spring of each season. Everyone who takes part in the Autumn term is guaranteed a place in the Spring term if they wish to continue.
Each term typically involves 10 weekly sessions, with a performance opportunity during the final session. Rehearsals take place each week at ENO’s rehearsal studios in West Hampstead.
Each term’s repertoire includes material from operas in the ENO’s current season, as well as a range of other repertoire including folk, gospel and show tunes. Sheet music is provided for those who read music, and word sheets and audio recordings are available to support those who prefer to learn by ear. Our Choir Leaders support members to develop their confidence, vocal and performance skills, and learn repertoire ‘off copy’.
Joining the choir includes opportunities to benefit from the expertise within the company, sing with professional opera singers, and attend dress rehearsals of ENO productions at the London Coliseum. We create opportunities for the choir to sing in public events and alongside other choirs. In recent years the choir have sung in the Southbank Centre Chorus Festival, Roundhouse Voices Now festival, St Martin’s Courtyard and in the streets near the London Coliseum.
Join our community mailing list to keep up with choir dates and other singing and performance opportunities for adults.
