Streetwise Opera is an award-winning charity that uses music to help people make positive changes in their lives.
Working with individuals who have experienced homelessness and other members of the community, it runs weekly music programmes in homeless centres and arts venues across England, and stages critically-acclaimed opera productions starring its performers.
Its work has two main aims: improving wellbeing and reducing social isolation. The partnership with ENO supports this work by helping individuals take a greater part in the community.
ENO works with Streetwise Opera to deliver workshops in homeless day centres across London, with pop-up performances by ENO singers and opportunities to come and experience ENO productions at the London Coliseum. Streetwise Explore group members are supported to take part in other aspects of the ENO community programme, such as regular singing, one day workshops and large scale community projects.
We offer work placements at ENO to support individuals back into work, and encourage skills sharing and staff training between the two organisations.
