The results of the 2016 Whatsonstage Opera Poll are in and we are delighted that The Mastersingers of Nuremberg has won best operatic revival.

Directed by Richard Jones and conducted by Edward Gardner, The Mastersingers of Nuremberg featured British baritone Iain Paterson debuting in the role as Hans Sachs.

The cast also included ENO favourite Andrew Shore as Beckmesser, British soprano Rachel Nicholls as Eva ,Welsh tenor Gwyn Hughes-Jones as Walter and ENO Harewood Artist Nicky Spence as David.

Tamara Wilson was also runner up in the Breakthrough Artist in Opera category for her role in The Force of Destiny.
