Covid-Security Guidelines at ENO Members and Supporters events

We can’t wait to finally see you all again for a new season of exclusive events.

As you can imagine, one of our biggest concerns with our in-person events is how to keep you, our staff and our artists safe while still providing you with great entertainment.

We have a few steps we need you to follow before attending our ENO Member and Supporter events.
These guidelines apply to all our Member and Supporter events except Dress Rehearsals and Opening Nights.

The guidelines

Depending on what type of event you are attending, we may ask you to follow a few different guidelines.
Here’s a quick table showing you which you need to follow at your upcoming event.

Sanitise your hands

We ask you to sanitise your hands on arrival. Don’t worry, we’ll provide the hand sanitiser!

When you arrive, we may also check your temperature with a contactless infrared thermometer.

Present a negative LFD test

We please ask you to present a negative COVID-19 Lateral Flow Test on arrival, which must be taken no more than 24 hours prior to your arrival.

You will need to show us either the email or SMS from NHS England with your test result.

Don’t worry – the tests are quick, easy and free to do. You can order a pack of 7 online or pick up a box from many pharmacies.

Please note this is a requirement of entry, regardless of your COVID-19 vaccination status.

Wear a face covering

We ask that you wear a face covering, unless medically exempt, at all times while at our events.

Don’t worry, you can still take it off to enjoy the food and drink!

Maintain social distancing

We know one of the things you really love about our events is getting to speak with our artists but we kindly ask that you do not approach them and that you remain socially distanced where possible.

This is to reduce the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak affecting rehearsals and the show.

You must not attend if...

If you have COVID symptoms you must not attend the venue.
This includes if you :

  • have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • believe you may be infected with COVID-19, whether you have symptoms or not
  • have experienced symptoms in the last 14 days
  • have been in close contact with anyone who has experienced symptoms in the last 14 days
  • have arrived in England in the last 14 days from a country where UK quarantine restrictions apply
  • have been instructed to self-isolate by test and trace

Why are you introducing all these rules?

If a member of the cast or creative team tested positive, that would mean our rehearsals and performances could halt for up to 10 days, and put the production in jeopardy. Our number one priority is the safety of you, our cast and our creative teams.
Following risk assessments and discussions with cross-industry leaders, we feel this is the best way to balance reduced risk with great entertainment.

I don’t have a smartphone. How do I register my LFD test and show you the result?

You can register your test online here. Alternatively, you can call 119 to register your test. You will receive an SMS and email within a few minutes of registering your test. You can show us the SMS, or print the email and bring along with you.

What if I don’t like the rules and don’t want to follow them?

Unfortunately we won’t be able to accommodate guests at our events that do not follow these guidelines.
For many of our events, we now offer ENO TV+, offering you the chance to join us from the comfort of your home.
You can exchange your in-person event ticket for the ENO TV+ option without charge – you can use live chat to get in touch with the Box Office (open Mon-Fri 10-6). Supporters can also contact their concierge service.

Is this information and the guidelines up to date?

We are regularly reviewing our Covid-security policies. If there are any changes to the guidelines, we will update this page, as well as let you know by email, or by mail/call if we have no email on record for you.
