ENO Gala 2019

An Evening of Myths and Magic

We had great success at An Evening of Myths of Magic on Wednesday 12 June 2019.

Our guests were taken on a lively and immersive evening through the London Guildhall accompanied by James Cleverton, Lockie Chapman, Becci Gemmell and members of the ENO Chorus and Orchestra. Dame Sarah Connolly took us all under her spell with a captivating performance of ‘What is life without you near me’ from Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice, followed by a very animated and entertaining auction led by Lord Dalmeny.

The evening would not have been the success it was without you, our supporters. Whether you were able to attend in person, or bid or pledged from afar, your support is crucial to us – not only to events like last night, but to everything we do at ENO.

We are so pleased to let you know that through the Silent and Live Auctions, Pledges and ticket sales we raised £150,000. We are so grateful of the generosity you showed last night and every penny we raised will all go directly to support ENO Baylis, our learning and participation programme. On behalf of everyone at ENO, thank you.

This amount of support means that we will:

• Bring 5000 young people to one of our dress rehearsals at the London Coliseum for free, introducing them to the world of opera, many for the first time.
• Host four Inside Opera workshops at the London Coliseum, aiding teachers in their own creativity that can be directly applied in their own classrooms, enriching both themselves and their students.
• Run five Unplugged events, further engaging young people with opera through workshops, behind-the-scenes visits at the London Coliseum and attending Stage and Orchestra rehearsals.
• Commit to four schools to create a bespoke year-long Opera Squad residency, bringing opera and music to hundreds of young people, unlocking their creativity and learning new skills.
Our vision is lives changed through opera, and with your invaluable support we can continue doing that.

Thank you for all your support of ENO, we really could not do it without you.
