Sunday 17 July, 12.30pm
Folkington Manor, Polegate, BN26 5SD
Dr Harry and Mrs Jacquie Brunjes are delighted to once again host the ENO Summer Party.
Enjoy an afternoon of world-class ENO singers in beautiful, intimate surroundings. Your ticket includes champagne, lunch in the grounds of Folkington Manor, and a recital by ENO Favourites.
Folkington Manor (pronounced Fo’ington) is a picturesque Grade II listed country home in East Sussex. The Manor was built in 1843 by the architect William John Donthorn, near the site of a manor that was recorded in the Domesday Book in 1086.
Previous residents of Folkington Manor include Rupert Gwynne, MP for Eastbourne 1910-24 and father of food writer Elizabeth Davi who later inherited the house.
Folkington itself has long had a close connection with the arts for centuries. The Long Man of Wilmington stands in the distance on Windover Hill, and even a memorial to one of the 20th Century’s most gifted musicians Violet Gordon Woodhouse can be found at the local church.
Purchased by Dr Harry (ENO Chair) & Jacquie Brunjes in 2010, Folkington Manor has undergone a complete restoration, returning it back to “the quality, and a bravura that recalls that of Baroque” (Country Life, 1958).
Set in 85 acres of parkland, we couldn’t think of anywhere better for a summer picnic celebration.
How to get there
Polegate mainline train station is just 2 miles from Folkington Manor, with hourly trains from London Victoria.
We recommend pre-booking a taxi from the train station. There are several options, including Polegate Station Taxis.
There is plenty of on-site parking available. Folkington Manor is just off the A27, and takes approximately 2 hours from London.
Tickets are £70 each, including champagne reception on the formal lawns, buffet lunch and bespoke ENO recital followed by refreshments on the terrace.
Please note travel is not included. There are a number of steps and uneven surfaces at Folkington Manor.
