Oliver Jeffers’s enchanting book comes to life in this captivating new opera for 5 – 8 year olds.
The Way Back Home traces the journey of a boy who, on discovering an aeroplane in his cupboard, flies off towards the stars in search of adventure. But when he runs out of petrol and crash lands on the moon, he comes face to face with a stranded Martian. Will the two become friends and help each other to find their way back home?
Created by Katie Mitchell and Vicki Mortimer, the pair behind the hit stage adaptation of Dr Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat, this exciting new show is the perfect family treat this Christmas. Joanna Lee’s mesmerising music is performed by players from ENO’s orchestra and features found instruments such as ping pong balls and pots and pans, alongside strings and woodwind.
