Freelance Music Staff

We will be holding general auditions to expand our roster of freelance repetiteurs.

The Music Staff at the ENO make a vital contribution to the high musical standards, both in rehearsal and performance. Integral to the production process, repetiteurs are accomplished pianists with exemplary sight-reading, recreating orchestral timbres on the piano. Repetiteurs pride themselves on their knowledge of the operatic repertoire, their ability to develop strong working relationships, and their understanding of the technicalities of singing for coaching purposes.

Freelance repetiteurs may be called upon to play for the following:

• Play piano at all types of rehearsal
• Play for auditions
• Play keyboard instruments as part of the Orchestra
• Conduct offstage
• Undertake work for the ENO Engage & Development departments

Please note that the ENO rehearses and performs everything in English and we would expect any freelance repetiteurs to be comfortable working in the English language.
All candidates must have the right to work in the UK.

Audition Dates

• 19 June all day
• 22 June AM
• 26 June all day

Audition requirements

• Candidates should prepare the following:
• X 2 extracts of no more than 5 minutes each. At least one of the extracts should be sung in English.
• There will also be sight reading
