Chrystal E. Williams
Chrystal E. Williams has a voice ‘of rare power and clarity’ (Philadelphia Inquirer), who’s been described as ‘a joy to listen to and watch – the complete package’ (Bachtrack). She returns to the ENO to make her mainstage debut as Nefertiti.
She has recently sung with Opera North (Carmen), the Metropolitan Opera (Maketaten Akhnaten), Birmingham Opera Company (Fricka Das Rheingold), Minnesota Opera (Stewardess Flight) and Bard Summerscape (Carlotta Die schweigsame Frau).
In the 2022/23 Season, she will perform as Rebecca Parker in Charlie Parker’s Yardbird (Dayton Opera), Mother Amahl and the Night Visitors (On Site Opera), and Orlofsky Die Fledermaus (Maryland Opera). As an advocate for new compositions, she is looking forward to performing with the American Composers Orchestra in the 2023/24 Season on a song-cycle collaboration with John Glover and Kelley Rourke.
She is also passionate about nurturing a new generation of singers, founding the Chrystal E. Williams scholarship in 2004 to aid students in pursuing a career in the performing arts.
