Emma Kerr was born in Edinburgh, and recently completed two seasons with Scottish Opera as an Emerging Artist, having previously been a Jerwood Young Artist with Glyndebourne. She graduated with distinction from the Guildhall Opera Course in 2015.

Career Highlights

Engagements with Scottish Opera: Frau Grubach/Washerwoman The Trial, Dorabella, 2nd Wood Nymph Rusalka, title role Ariodante (‘Unwrapped’ shows/cover), Cherubino (‘Unwrapped’ shows/cover), Peep-bo The Mikado, Carmen A little bit of Carmen and an Opera Highlights tour.

Further roles include: Shepherd L’enfant et les sortilèges, Mercédès (cover) Carmen (Glyndebourne); Chair/Cat/Squirrel L’enfant et les sortilèges (Barbican); Ninetta in Jonathan Dove’s The Little Green Swallow (BYO).

Roles at GSMD included: Prue in Arnold’s The Dancing Master (world stage premiere), Cristina in Donizetti’s I pazzi per progetto (UK premiere) and excerpts as Lucretia The Rape of Lucretia, Romeo I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Concepcion L’heure espagnole and Sesto La clemenza di Tito. She is a finalist in the Peter Hulsen Orchestral Song Award and is a proud Samling Scholar.
