Helen Johnson studied postgraduate at Trinity College of Music and then sang freelance until joining the ENO Chorus full-time in 2019. She has sung with WNO and Opera North Chorus. As a soloist she has performed with regional companies including Iford (Jezibaba), Stanley Hall (Larina), Opera Della Luna (Ruth) and Opera East (Bianca, Marcellina).

As a regular with English Touring Opera for a decade, she sang a range of roles, including Larina, Filipyevna, Third Lady, Lady Angela, Genevieve, and covered Frugola, Jane Seymour and Rodrigo amongst others. For Dorset Festival she sang Azucena and Annina. She was a Wagner Society Bayreuth Bursary Competition finalist.
