James Laing


James Laing studied at Uppingham School and was a choral scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge, furthering his studies at London’s Royal College of Music.

Career Highlights

Notable engagements elsewhere: Peter in Daniel Bjarmason’s Brodre (Den Jyske Opera); Apollo Death in Venice (Landestheater Linz); The Refugee Flight (Scottish Opera); Messiah (Tafelmusik, Toronto), appearances for companies including Classical Opera, the Early Opera Company, Garsington Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Grange Park Opera, Opera Holland Park, Opera North, OTC, Dublin, ROH, WNO, the Opéra de Nice, the Semperoper Dresden and the Göttingen Festival. He also appeared in Jonathan Miller’s production of Bach’s St Matthew Passion (RNT). Concert highlights have included performances with the Academy of Ancient Music, Les Agrémens, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Britten Sinfonia, the City of London Sinfonia, the Dunedin Consort, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, the Hallé, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Camerata, the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Spain, the Netherlands Bach Society, the Polski Chór Kameralny and the Royal Northern Sinfonia.
