Jo Davies

Director

Trained at RNT and RSC, Jo Davies has worked in London’s West End and on Broadway. She has directed musicals at London’s Barbican, Châtelet in Paris, the Welsh Millennium Centre and at the London Coliseum.

Career Highlights

She has directed for the RSC, National Theatre Wales and the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, as well as for a number of international opera companies, among them Houston Grand Opera, Washington National Opera, San Francisco Opera, ENO, WNO, Netherlands Opera, Angers and Nantes Opera and Opera North. She collaborated at ENO with acclaimed fashion designer Zandra Rhodes on a production of Aida. She directed a new La bohème for Washington National Opera and her Marriage of Figaro was nominated for an outstanding achievement in British Opera. She regularly directs and teaches at the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Arts Educational School, the National Youth Music Theatre, Central School of Speech and Drama, on the ROH’s Jette Parker Young Artist Programme and for the National Opera Studio.
