John Tomlinson studied at the RNCM where he was appointed President in 2016. He has sung at all the world’s major opera houses and festivals.

Career Highlights

Notable roles: Wotan/Wanderer, Fafner, Hunding and Hagen in Der Ring des Nibelungen, title role Holländer, Titurel/Gurnemanz Parsifal, Sachs Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Ochs Rosenkavalier, Morosus Die schweigsame Frau, Moses Moses und Aron, Rocco, King Philip, Grand Inquisitor, Sarastro, Four Villains Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Golaud, Claggart, Borromeo Palestrina, Dosifey Khovanshchina and title roles The Minotaur, Boris Godunov, Oberto, Bluebeard’s Castle and Attila.

He has sung worldwide in concert and has recorded extensively. Future performances include appearances with the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Prague National Opera, ROH, ENO, LSO, Cleveland Orchestra and Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. He was appointed CBE in 1997 and knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2005.
