Julia Bauer was born in Berlin and studied at the city’s College of Performing Arts, specialising in the classical coloratura. Engagements have taken her to the Staatsoper Berlin as well as the Staatsoper Hannover, Semperoper Dresden, opera houses of Leipzig and Bonn, the Aalto-Theater, Essen (Lulu, Zerbinetta, Aminta), Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza, Teatro Comunale di Bologna and in Austria to the Vienna Volksoper as well as to the Brucknerhaus, Linz.

Career Highlights

Notable engagements elsewhere: Zerbinetta (Valencia, Staatstheater Stuttgart); Aminta Die schweigsame Frau, Sierva Maria Love and other Demons, Queen of Night (Theater Chemnitz). Queen of Night (Komische Oper Berlin, Leipzig Opera); Lakmé (Opera de Lausanne). Concert appearances include Messiah (Budapest), Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (Teatro del Liceu, Barcelona) and under Riccardo Chailly (Valencia, Alicante). She joined the Ensemble Intercontemporain to perform Stockhausen’s Momente, conducted by Péter Eötvös in Paris, Cologne and Monte Carlo, and sang in the Berliner Philharmonie under the direction of Marek Janowski. She performs regularly with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and Concerto Köln, and is a guest of many renowned festivals and orchestras.

Recent engagements: Maria in Mark Andres’ Wunderzeichen (Staatsoper Stuttgart); Queen of Night (Opera Bonn).
