Kirill Karabits

Kirill Karabits has been Chief Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for 14 years and their relationship has been celebrated worldwide. They have made many critically acclaimed recordings and performed regularly at the BBC Proms. He has also worked with leading orchestras across Europe, Asia and North America.

Career Highlights

Recent highlights include: debuts with orchestras in Dallas, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Prague, as well as returns to the Minnesota Orchestra, Bamberger Symphoniker, Orchestre National Capitole de Toulouse, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, and the Opéra Montpellier for Pelléas et Mélisande.

Highlights of the 2022/23 Season include: La bohème (OpernhausZürich); Così fan tutte (Grange Festival); Korean tour with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

He was Music Director of the Deutsches National theater Weimar 2016–19, conducting acclaimed productions of Die Meistersingervon Nürnberg, Tannhäuser and Mozart’s Da Ponte operas. He has also appeared at the Deutsche Oper, Opernhaus Zürich (Boris Godunov), Oper Stuttgart (Death in Venice), Glyndebourne (La bohème, Eugene Onegin), Staatsoper Hamburg (Madama Butterfly), ENO (Don Giovanni) and Bolshoi Theatre. He is committed to working with the next generation of musicians, most recently the NYOGB.
