Career Highlights

Tenor Paul Curievici made his debut with the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as Jack Worthing in Gerald Barry’s The Importance of Being Earnest, a role he reprised for the company at the Barbican Theatre and with the New York Philarmonic at the Lincoln Center. In recent seasons he has made debuts at Zürich Opera (as Elemer “Arabella”, Jack “Mahagonny” and Guidobaldo in Schreker’s “Die Gezeichneten”), on the main stage of the Royal Opera Covent Garden (in Salome), at the Komische Oper Berlin (the title role in Candide), den Norske Opera (Števa, “Jenufa”), the Royal Danish Opera (Pirelli “Sweeney Todd”, Melot “Tristan und Isolde”, Ades’ “The Exterminating Angel”), La Monnaie/De Munt (3rd Knappe, “Parsifal”), het Concertgebouw (White Party Minister, “Le Grand Macabre”, and Forest Crow, “Snow Queen”), Theater Basel (Messiaen’s “St Francois d’Assise”), Glyndebourne Festival Opera (in “Luisa Miller”), and Opera Nationale de Montpellier (Flute, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, Melot “Tristan und Isolde”).

Future plans include returns to the Royal Opera House (1st Jew, “Salome”), Zurich (Haubenstock-Ramati’s “Amerika”), the Danish Royal Opera (Tichon, “Kat’a Kabanova”, and Nick, “Handmaid’s Tale”), and La Monnaie/De Munt (Mortimer, “Lessons in Love and Violence”), and house debuts at English National Opera (High Priest of Amon, “Akhnaten”), Theater Essen, Konzerthaus Dortmund, and Kölner Philharmonie (“Lessons in Love and Violence”).

Other recent performances include: creating the role of Eames in The Virtues of Things for the Linbury Theatre at ROH, Gérard in Philip Glass’ Les Enfants Terribles for the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet at the Barbican, Vanya Kudras in Katya Kabanova for Opera Holland Park, Basilio and Curzio in The Marriage of Figaro for Scottish Opera, Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail for Grange Festival, Sandy in Maxwell Davies’ The Lighthouse for Shadwell Opera, the title role in Faust for Clonter Opera, and creating the role of Titorelli in Philip Glass’ The Trial for ROH Linbury. He made his debut as Sam Kaplan in Street Scene at the Young Vic, reprising the role at the Theatre du Chatelet, Paris, and the Liceu, Barcelona.
