Paul Sheehan

Bass-baritone

Paul graduated in music from Exeter University and was a choral scholar in Exeter Cathedral Choir before going on to train at the GSMD and now studies with Robert Dean. Having worked for ENO in various capacities since 1996, he became a permanent member of the chorus in 2012, since when he has also created the role of Shepherd Thebans, sung Army Surgeon The Force of Destiny, Policeman La bohème, Messenger La traviata and Usher Rigoletto for the company.

Roles elsewhere include Ceprano (Grange Park Opera), Peter St Matthew Passion (Glyndebourne), Don Alfonso (Glyndebourne on Tour), Escamillo, Father Hansel and Gretel, Sid Albert Herring, Mozart’s Figaro, Ko-Ko The Mikado and Henry Higgins My Fair Lady. Previously he has sung as a chorus member with Glyndebourne, Garsington Opera and Raymond Gubbay, and his oratorio engagements encompass Handel’s Messiah to Tippett’s A Child of Our Time.
