Sean Panikkar achieved a break-out success in his 2018 Salzburg Festival debut in a new production of Henze’s The Bassarids and was no less critically acclaimed in his Los Angeles Opera debut as Gandhi Satyagraha.

Career Highlights
Notable engagements elsewhere: a return to the Salzburg Festival in a new production of Nono’s Intolleranza 1960; a debut at the Wiener Staatsoper in a new production of Wozzeck; new productions of The Bassarids and Intolleranza 1960 (Komische Oper Berlin); the Metropolitan Opera premiere of Kevin Puts and Greg Pierce’s The Hours; and performances of Oedipus Rex (San Francisco Symphony). Other highlights include numerous performances with the Metropolitan Opera; La bohème (RAH); Menotti’s The Last Savage (Santa Fe Opera); the world premiere of Giorgio Battistelli’s CO2 (debut at Teatro alla Scala); and Weill’s Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny and Mozart’s Zaïde (Festival d’Aix-en-Provence). An alumnus of San Francisco Opera’s Adler Fellowship, he holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Voice Performance from the University of Michigan.
