Cellist Tamaki Sugimoto is a recipient of various international prizes and performs extensively across the UK, Europe and Far East.

Her recent highlights include Saariaho’s Sept Papillons for Solo Cello at Wigmore Hall, a recital at Conway Hall and proceeding to the semi-finals of the Royal Over-Seas League’s annual competition with Kofiko Ensemble. She enjoys working as a freelance player with various major orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Hallé and London Sinfonietta, having previously completed schemes with the LSO, LPO and London Sinfonietta amongst others.

Passionate about music education, she has also worked with organisations such as the Wigmore Hall Learning and The Benedetti Foundation. Tamaki attended the Yehudi Menuhin School and Guildhall School of Music & Drama before proceeding to study with Melissa Phelps at the Royal College of Music as the Linbury Trust Scholar and has recently graduated gaining a Masters with Distinction and an Artist Diploma.
