Discover Opera Days
Our Discover Opera Days offer an opportunity to give children in Years 3-6 an active and exciting introduction to opera-making and the jobs and skills involved in making and performing opera at the ENO’s home of the London Coliseum.
What you can expect:
Your children will be guided through an interactive tour of the West End’s largest theatre, the London Coliseum, getting to know key roles and features of opera-making at the ENO.
Your children will meet an opera singer, and get to handle some props and try on costumes from past productions.
After lunch, they will participate in a participatory workshop introducing them to key skills in opera, whilst supporting their wellbeing and building their self-esteem and confidence.
- Drama and Storytelling (using music and singing to learn about characterisation and the story of a selected opera)
- Songwriting and Composition (writing lyrics and melody in response to music from a selected opera)
- Singing and Performing (learning to sing some music from a selected opera and performing in character)

SEND schools
We are currently piloting a version of our Discover Opera Days adapted for SEND schools. Adaptation includes a shorter day with fewer transitions between different areas and activities. If your SEND school is interested in participating, please complete the booking form and if you are allocated a date, our team will get in touch with you to arrange a meeting with you to discuss the particular needs of your group.
