Our flagship programme with secondary schools offers a minimum 1 year partnership with ENO. We expose whole school communities to opera and to the power of live performance, broadening cultural horizons and providing points of access into the art form.
We launch each school partnership with a one day whole school takeover by a team of professional artists, exposing pupils and staff to a range of operatic repertoire performed live in their school. We deliver pop up performances across the school and engage whole year groups in interactive workshops.
We work closely with each school to develop a bespoke year-long programme of activity that responds to specific needs identified by the school, making use of the expertise and resources at ENO to support curriculum learning. We use our productions as a springboard for in-school projects, nurturing skills across a range of subjects and encouraging creative thinking and expression.
We organise a series of backstage and rehearsal visits for each partner school, exposing pupils and staff to the workings of the company and providing opportunities to meet professionals working in the industry.
We support teachers to engage with opera as a stimulus for learning across the curriculum and to prepare groups for attending our productions.
We also prioritise work experience opportunities for pupils at our Opera Squad partner schools and opportunities to engage in our youth programme.
