Autumn Harewood Artists Match Campaign raises over £195,000

12th December 2022 in News

We are delighted to tell you that our autumn Harewood Artists Match Campaign has raised £194K.

A big thank you to everyone who generously contributed. You are supporting our Harewood Artists training programme in the 2022/23 Season that will nurture and develop the next generation of opera talent at ENO.

This time a syndicate of 28 Donors generously donated the Matched Funds that saw every donation made between 23 November and 10 December matched and doubled.

We timed this year’s Harewood Artists Match Campaign to coincide with the UK premiere of Jake Heggie’s It’s a Wonderful Life. The Campaign launched on 23 November (the day of the Dress Rehearsal) and ran until the last performance on 10 December. We hoped Members, Supporters and our audience would all be shining star and support our opera stars of the future.

We took inspiration from the story of It’s a Wonderful Life and the concept that we all have a guardian angel looking after us. Our Harewood Artists certainly feel this way about the team at ENO who enable all their training opportunities and the wider ENO family, whose incredible donations to the Match Campaign make it all possible.

ENO Head of Casting, Michelle Williams said:

‘On behalf of our 9 ENO Harewood Artists, Jane Robinson, Head of Vocal Training & Development, my colleagues Lottie Gulliver and Catherine Chibnall  in eth Casting Team and the whole ENO family, I would like to thank you for your amazing support of this autumn’s Harewood Artists Match Campaign.

All money raised directly supports the ENO Harewood Artists training programme in the 2022/23 Season. We have 9 hugely talented singers who will receive bespoke coaching and support while covering and performing principal roles with us, thanks to you continued and unflinching support.

It’s an absolute honour and a privilege to see their careers blossom and I hope you feel a sense of pride when you come to the London Coliseum for an ENO show they are singing in.

We have enjoyed many great performances from our Harewood Artists and Former Harewood Artists this season and are looking forward to Carmen, Akhnaten, The Dead City, Rheingold, Blue, and Symphony of Sorrowful Songs in spring 2023.”
