19th August 2021 in News

All of us at ENO were saddened to learn of the recent passing of Sir Nicholas Goodison.

Nicholas was a valued board member between 1977 to 1998 serving as Deputy Chair to Lord Goodman, Lord Harewood and Sir John Baker successively. He was also Chair of the ENO Trust.

Dr Harry Brunjes, Chair of ENO says:

“Nicholas was a great philanthropist to the arts which extended not just to ENO as a company but to our production syndicates as well.”

Throughout this time he was also Chair of the Courtauld Institute for 20 years and the London Stock Exchange for a decade.

Nicholas will also be remembered for the ‘Goodison Review’ of governance at ENO at the request of the Arts Council at the end of his time on the board.

He is remembered by everyone at the ENO as a true and very loyal friend.
