This time we have an interview from our ENO Breathe team administrator James Carvalho who works fiercely behind the scenes ensuring that all administrative tasks related to the everyday running of the programme are in carried out!
What is your earliest memory?
Watching Bob the Builder whilst lying on the floor of my grans house.
Have you always wanted to work in the Arts?
Since the moment I realised I couldn’t grow up to be Bob the Builder, yes.
What was your first job?
My first job was working as a paperboy when I was 11.
Do you have a favourite opera/show?
My favourite opera I’ve seen so far was Turn of the Screw, by Benjamin Britten. ENO did a new production of it in their last season (24/25), and I loved the set and the projections, and how this reflected the ghostly music and story.
What is your favourite song?
WOW, it’s too hard to choose a favourite song because THERE ARE JUST SO MANY, but something I’ve been loving recently is Reckless by Kassie Krut. Otherwise, Echos Answer by Broadcast is one of my favourite songs of all time.
Do you have any hobbies?
I like to watch movies, cycle my bike, listen to music and dance!
What can’t you live without?
My projector and hifi setup.
What is your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of my job is meeting all the lovely people in communities/schools who always have great stories to share!
If you could meet and have dinner with anybody in the world, who would it be?
Probably Julian Cope from The Teardrop Explodes.
Do you have a favourite musician?
I think my favourite musician is probably Aphex Twin.
