Meet Matthew Rawcliffe, one of the three artists selected for the Creative Incubator programme for 2026/27.

Matthew Rawcliffe is a dance artist from Manchester who specialises in creating inclusive performances for audiences labelled with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). As a dancer he is known for winning the contemporary dance category of BBC Young Dancer 2019 and playing the title role in the Danish Royal Theatre’s production of Pinocchio.

He is currently working on an Arts Council England funded tour of his creation Hades & Persephone – a sensory dance show for young people with PMLD. He also creates work in Denmark, where he lived and worked as a dancer. His first Danish production Narkissos, a one-on-one experience for neurodivergent and PMLD audiences, received a five star review in ISCENE – Denmark’s performing arts platform.

Matthew has recently been working as a Choreodrome Artist at The Place and Frozen Light Theatre Sensory Residency Artist developing a new one-on-one performance for adults with PMLD about greed and money!
