Robert Murray has performed principal roles for the Royal Opera House, Hamburg State Opera, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Norwegian Opera, Bergen National Opera, the Beijing Music Festival, the Venice Biennale, and the Edinburgh and Salzburg festivals.
He works regularly in concert with the world’s leading orchestras and ensembles, performing with such conductors as Edward Gardner, Harry Christophers, Harry Bicket, Paul McCreesh and Sir Simon Rattle.
During the 2025/26 season, Murray’s opera engagements include debut appearances with the Frankfurt Opera, as the title role in a new Claus Guth production of Mitridate, and Komische Oper, as title role of Handel’s Belshazzar.
Last season he sang Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw for ENO, Josef K. in Der Prozess at Theater an der Wien, Florestan in Fidelio for the Garsington Opera and Mitridate with the Hamburg State Opera.
Murray’s previous highlights include his debut appearances with Teatro alla Scala Milan, in Thomas Adès’ The Tempest, Bayerische Staatsoper, in their new Stefan Herheim production of Peter Grimes, and with Theater an der Wien as Belshazzar.
