Simon Bailey was born in England and has lived in Frankfurt since 2002. His repertoire encompasses more than 100 major opera roles and 50 oratorio works, including Dr Bartolo Il Barbiere di Siviglia at La Scala, Milan.

Career Highlights
Engagements in the 2024/25 season included: Wotan Das Rheingold (Dortmund); Wotan Die Walküre (Dresden, Luzerne, Stockholm); WandererSiegfried (Dortmund, Saarbrücken, Versailles and Dresden); Klingsor Parsifal(Frankfurt); title role Der fliegender Holländer (Taipei), Gonzalo The Tempest (Kassel), Rama in Holst´s Sita (Saarbrücken, world premiere).
Future engagements include: Wotan/Wanderer in the complete Ring cycle (Tiroler Festspiele, Erl); Wotan Die Walküre, conducted by Kent Nagano (Dresden, Lucerne); Wotan Das Rheingold (Dortmund).

Awards include: He was voted ‘Wales Singer of the Year’ in 2018 for his performance as Šiškov From the House of the Dead in Cardiff. He won first prize in the 2005 Rome International Oratorio competition.
