Leave a legacy

“Nowadays more than ever, a viable future for an artistic company like ENO should not be taken for granted. I will be remembering ENO in my will to help safeguard this outstanding company’s future and I hope you will join me and consider leaving a legacy to ENO

Sir John Tomlinson

Remembering ENO in your will is a wonderful way to extend support beyond your lifetime while ensuring that future generations experience the joy ENO has given you over the years. Legacies are crucial to our fundraising, helping to shape the future of this historic company.

Gifts can be directed to an area of our work that particularly interests or inspires you, for example:

  • Singer training schemes
  • Education and community projects
  • Funding a new production
  • Caring for our theatre, the London Coliseum

There’s never been a better time than now to leave a charitable bequest to ENO. Once you have ensured that family and friends are provided for, we hope that you will consider a gift to ENO, and draw comfort from knowing that your contribution will help secure our future.

“By pledging a legacy to ENO, I’m supporting not just this house but opera that needs to be made and for opera to survive into the 22nd century”

ENO Future

To say thank you to those amazing supporters, like you, who have made a gift in your will, the ENO has created ENO Future. Each year we host a series of lunches and rehearsals to our ENO Future members to say thank you and share extraordinary encounters with opera.

How you can benefit from leaving a legacy

A gift in your could also help reduce the inheritance tax paid on your estate. HMRC will reduce inheritance tax from 40% to 36% for those who pledge 10% or more of their taxable estate to charity in their wills. Read more here.

How to leave a legacy to ENO

Including a legacy gift to ENO in your will is easy. The English National Opera is registered charity (Registered Charity Number 257210). Gifts can be a specified sum of money, a proportion of your residuary estate or specific items of your property.

If you have already made your will and would like to include ENO, you can simply add a codicil making the addition or change. A codicil is a separate legal document amending your will and can be made with the advice of your solicitor.

If you are yet to make a will, first consult a professional adviser (usually your solicitor or your bank).
