Lighting Technician

We are seeking experienced Lighting Technicians to join our team for our 2025-2026 opera season.

Lighting Technicians support the efficient and safe delivery of lighting operations for productions, working under the guidance of the Lighting Managers or Senior Technicians. The role involves effective communication within the Lighting and wider Technical departments, active participation in risk assessments, and close collaboration with other production teams to meet the technical demands of each performance within a repertory environment.

Please note these are fixed term contracts. Please see the dates below:

 

Contract 1: 08/09/2025-01/03/2026

Contract 2: 08/08/2025-12/12/2025 and 19/01/2025-01/03/2025

Contract 3: 08/08/2025-12/12/2025 and 19/01/2025-01/03/2025

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to focus a variety of instruments quickly and accurately under instruction
  • Familiarity with current lighting equipment and associated accessories
  • Ability to rig equipment in accordance with current H&S regulations
  • Ability to accurately read and understand a lighting plan and extract relevant information from it
  • Ability to make running plots or follow spot plots during the on-stage rehearsals
  • A working knowledge of automated fixtures
  • An understanding of Ethernet/DMX networks
  • Ability to undertake routine maintenance and first line repair of automated fixtures
  • A good knowledge of all relevant Regulations appropriate to the post
  • Ability to carry out fault finding, running repairs and maintenance
  • A basic knowledge of electricity and electrical safety
  • Ability to follow spot
  • Confidence to work safely at height
  • A broad understanding of the workings & requirements of other technical departments
