Irish soprano Ailish Tynan first came to international attention as the winner of the Rosenblatt Recital Song Prize at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World in 2003.
She has since enjoyed a wide-ranging career across opera, concert and recital platforms, working with leading orchestras, ensembles and pianists throughout the UK and internationally.
Ailish’s recent and upcoming engagements include: The Governess in Turn of the Screw and Despina in Così fan tutte for ENO.
She also returns to the role of the Governess at the Music in PyeongChang Festival in South Korea and appears as Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Glyndebourne Festival. She recently created the role of Christine in the world premiere of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Festen for the Royal Opera House, in a production directed by Richard Jones.
Concert engagements include Messiah at Dublin’s National Concert Hall, Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Royal Festival Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Mozart’s C Minor Mass at Westminster Abbey.
She remains a regular recitalist at Wigmore Hall, performing with pianists including Malcolm Martineau, Anna Tilbrook and James Baillieu.
