Jo Appleby is a Lancashire-born soprano who studied at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Her professional career began with Carl Rosa Opera, after which she sang with the Glyndebourne Festival and Touring Chorus understudying a variety of roles.

Jo was signed to Sony BMG and toured internationally as a member of the multi-platinum-selling classical crossover group Amici Forever.

Following a period away from opera, she returned to the operatic stage, performing with Glyndebourne, The Royal Ballet and Opera, and English National Opera, where she is now a permanent member of the Chorus. Her performed roles include Musetta (La bohème), Countess Ceprano and Page (Rigoletto), Leila (Iolanthe), and Mrs O’Malley (It’s a Wonderful Life).

Her understudy roles include Ida (Die Fledermaus), Peep-Bo (The Mikado), Edith (The Pirates of Penzance), Shadow 1 (Marnie), Phyllis (Iolanthe), Musetta (La bohème), Catherine Eddowes (Jack the Ripper), and Helen Bailey (It’s a Wonderful Life).
