AFRODEUTSCHE is part of The Artist’s Table, a new initiative that brings together a group of artists living and making work in the North West of England to help identify and explore the skills artists need to develop now and in the future.

AFRODEUTSCHE (Henrietta Smith-Rolla) is a Manchester-based composer, DJ, radio presenter and narrator who seamlessly bridges classical orchestration, techno, and house music.

Born to Ghanaian, Russian, and German heritage, the completely self-taught artist weaves rich cultural threads into a unique soundscape that transcends traditional genre boundaries.

Her innovative approach has earned her massive industry recognition, including a BAFTA nomination and Oscar shortlist for her beautiful, piano-led minimalist score for the documentary Kamali.

Whether she is broadcasting on the AFRODEUTSCHE show on BBC Radio 6 Music or Soundwaves on BBC Radio 3 Unwind, touring the globe as the narrator for composer Max Richter, or premiering major orchestral and international commissions, Henrietta is a major force in contemporary culture.
