Why does ENO give content warnings?

Our content warnings are designed for audience members who want to enjoy going to the opera but would like a chance to prepare emotionally for viewing that they might find jarring.

Not everyone uses content warnings, but some people who have experienced trauma, or who have specific sensitivities find them helpful.

Why does ENO give age recommendations?

We give age recommendations to help you judge whether children and young people in your care will enjoy a production. However, they are recommendations, not rules. Please do use your own judgement about whether a production might be suitable for someone who is younger than the recommended age.
