Originally from Cumbria, mezzo soprano, Anna Elizabeth Cooper is an ENO Harewood Artist.
Career Highlights
Last season she sang Kate in Pirates of Penzance and covered Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro. As well as singing Nancy this season, Anna is covering Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte and Rosmira in Partenope. Anna covered Zweite Dame in Glyndebourne’s production of Die Zauberflöte (Mozart) and previously to this, she made her Glyndebourne debut as Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Britten), as well as performing Soeur Alice in Barrie Kosky’s production of Dialogues des Carmélites (Poulenc). Anna also performed Olga in Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky) at Opera Holland Park and premiered the role of Suzanna in Joseph Howard’s Behind God’s Back at the Tête-à-Tête Festival.
Other operatic roles include Dorabella Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), Rosina il barbiere di siviglia (Rossini), Concepcion L’heure Espagnole (Ravel), Lisetta il mondo della luna (Haydn), Dinah Trouble in Tahiti (Bernstein) and Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro (Mozart), directed by Sir Thomas Allen. On the concert platform Anna has performed as a soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra & Choir, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hallè Orchestra.
