In her native Australia, Catherine Carby has performed with the major opera companies including Opera Australia, Opera Queensland, National Opera of Canberra, Pinchgut Opera, Victoria State Opera and West Australian Opera.

European engagements have included performances with the Royal Opera, London, English National Opera, Buxton Festival Opera, English Touring Opera, Scottish Opera, Longborough Festival Opera and the Teatro Sao Carlos, Lisbon.   

Her extensive discography includes the BBC Music Magazine Award winning recordings of Arnold’s The Dancing Master and Lampe’s The Dragon of Wantley (Resonus Classics); The Royal Ballet and Opera’s Mayerling, La traviata and Die Walküre (Opus Arte); and Richard Blackford’s arrangement of Verdi’s Requiem (Nimbus). Most recently released is Bantock’s The Seal Woman (Retrsopect Opera).   

In concert, she has sung with orchestras including City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, the Hallé, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Philharmonia, Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Ulster Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Symphony Orchestra.  

Her future engagements include Katharina Schratt Mayerling for London’s Royal Ballet & Opera; Brangäne Tristan und Isolde for Longborough Festival Opera; and her debut at La Scala, Milan, as Waltraute Die Walküre.
