Deborah Davison mezzo-soprano was born in Belfast and studied at Cardiff University and the RAM. She spent several seasons in the Glyndebourne Chorus before joining ENO, where she has performed Third Lady The Magic Flute, Inez The Gondoliers, Novice Suor Angelica, Bridesmaid Der Freischütz, Sister Claire The Carmelites and Nurse Boris Godunov and understudied many roles, including Maurya Riders to the Sea, Suzuki Madam Butterfly, Olga Eugene Onegin, Amastris Xerxes, Anna The Trojans, Secretary Nixon in China, Diana Dream/Dolores Dolores, On the Town, Old Lady Candide and Innkeeper Boris Godunov. She has sung roles with Kentish Opera, St Albans Chamber Opera and Opéra de Baugé. She has appeared in concert both in the UK and abroad and performed Elgar’s Sea Pictures and Brahms’s Alto Rhapsody with the Studio Symphony Orchestra, Belfast, and given many song recitals, several of which have been recorded for BBC Radio Ulster. Deborah is passionate about encouraging music-making in young people through her own singing and piano teaching studios.
