This season, American countertenor Jake Ingbar makes a debut with the London Handel Festival to sing Andronico in Tamerlano under Music Director Laurence Cummings as well as alto soloist in Bach’s St. John’s Passion led by Richard Gowers. He also joins the roster at Lyric Opera of Chicago to cover Leonardo in El último sueño de Frida y Diego under the baton of Roberto Kalb. Most recently, Mr. Ingbar made debuts with Nederlandse Reisopera where he portrayed Ottone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea with Cappella Mediterranea led by Mónica Pustilnik; Semperoper Dresden singing the Witch of Endor in Handel’s Saul with conductor Leo Hussain and director Claus Guth; and Salzburger Festspiele to perform Nireno in Giulio Cesare directed by Dimitry Tcherniakow and conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm. Previous season highlights include singing Nireno at Dutch National Opera directed by Barrie Kosky and covering Countertenor 2 in El Niño by John Adams with Marin Alsop at the Metropolitan Opera. Mr. Ingbar has performed at the San Francisco Opera, Festival Aix-en-Provence, Los Angeles Opera, Aldeburgh Festival, Minnesota Opera, Aspen Music Festival, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Polish National Opera, with leading conductors as James Conlon, Christophe Rousset, Stephen Stubbs, Gary Wedow, Ottavio Dantone, David Stern, and Petr Kotik.
